Lift it off my chest

What I want to say to you sounds harsh but it needs to be said

Words ain’t easy

What if I say something wrong

I’m just going to do this once and then I’m moving on

And it’s hard to be honest when someone could get hurt

Not speaking up could make things worse

If what you know is true there’s one thing left to do

Say what’s on your mind and let it out

And it can hurt to be truthful it may lead to a goodbye

It can be painful when you’re meaning to be helpful

Speak up don’t let this moment pass you by

This is your chance to be better than you were the day before

Your opportunity to push the icky stuff out the door

And into the street, and out of your head, and off planet Earth

And if I see you / not going to run away

Going to walk up to you and this is what I’m going to say

Have you taken time to listen / Get what I’m saying to you

If it was hard to hear

I hope some of it got through

And it can hurt to be truthful it may lead to goodbye
